Authorized Version (AV) Blog | Home

Welcome to the Authorized Version blog. I have not yet tested with mobile or mac browsers so your display results/mileage may vary.

On this site, we defend the proper use of the Holy Bible, the true word of God, which is free from error or corruption, according to the providential preservation of the Scripture. We present a set of facts about their translation of the Holy Bible which anyone would find relevant and interesting to know before one invests in reading, studying and learning from it. Some of the information that is provided here has certainly helped me a lot. This blog is named after the Authorized Version, which is the more official name of what we call the King James Version. I have done this in keeping with the original spirit of the men who originally produced this English translation. I believe it is important that we represent the original inspired words of the Bible accurately in our language, so I spend a lot of time focusing on that, in many of the articles. I hope that the information on this site will help show how a proper defense of all Biblical principles is consistent. I would like to thank you for visiting and reading.

And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.” – Luke 4:4

In these articles, I explain that the Bible we use today is called “Authorized,” for the fact that it is appointed – “to be read in churches.” We will show how the “Authorized Version,” otherwise referred to as the Authorized King James Bible, is actually written in standard English, and that the authorization for its use remains valid. This Bible is referred to unofficially as the King James Bible in accordance with its place and time of translation, since the first printing of the KJB was in London in the year 1611. This is the translation or version that we use here – and the reasons for this will all be explained. We can show that the reasons for doing this are self explanatory, and we will be able to reach one determined truth. And by reading the above articles and throughout most of the rest of this website, this will be explained.

I am also working to add more content beyond what is already here to cover more subjects. The above five posts cover the basic groundwork for which the other content is built, so I recommend reading them first, in order to better understand the other articles. Thanks again for visiting! Comments are open on all pages for further discussion. Please also see the meta page here for more information on rules.

What has been compiled here is only the start of a more complete defense. This is what I take as the conventional approach to the word of God. The strength of the defense and approach presented here can be proven in many different ways, and there are many different ways we can use to verify these truths. So, please consider these subjects and issues for yourself. In order to allow discussion on these facts, I have enabled comments so that further discussion or feedback is available anywhere to help to clarify any point.

In addition to these articles, there are extra pages on the sidebar (top right) with additional material which may be useful as a reference. These pages are, also, open for comments. Feedback is appreciated in case there is any mistake on my part, or for providing any additional insight you may like to add. Some further posts for this site have written which I will keep listed here:

Overall changes and removals in the modern bible versions (list)

Defense of 1 Cor. 1:18 – (“us which are saved,” and not, “are being saved“)
Defense of 2 Cor. 2:17 – (“many, which corrupt the word”)
Defense of Philippians 2:6 – (“thought it not robbery to be equal with God”)

We recognize the A.V. or Authorized Version in the same way that the translators did, and in the same way that most scholars did during the production of the so-called “Revised Version,” which was a newer translation produced in 1880-1. The “Revised Version” was originally considered to be a revision of the Authorized 1611 translation. The King James Bible is officially called the “Authorized Version” because it is the one translation written in standard English. We recognize that there were several older English translations which approached the same accuracy and precision, although the form of English is slightly older than that of the 1611 translation. Our standard translation in English now is the A.V. or KJV of 1611. This article provides a historical description of how this happened. – It is a fact that the Scriptures are translated out of the original tongues and into the standard, proper form of our language. We can know with confidence based on Biblical principles, that the originals for the Bible in their original languages contain every truth that our accurate translation of the Bible does. The A.V. and the original language sources are effectively the same.

The following we should be quick to add:
Any translation which differs from the original Bible, (whether in English or other languages) – whether by removing passages and words inexplicably without a trace, by changing numbers around, or by adding phrases without any context – are very importantly not the same. A Bible version that is changed in these ways is not truthfully presenting what the Bible really says. It can be shown how the KJV is a faithful witness representing the truth of God’s word which has been passed down, received by us through the ages. And it can be equally shown that corrupted, or ‘modern’ bible versions (such as the NIV) that have been made are false witnesses of God’s word. We say it plainly: that these movern versions disagree with what the Holy Bible says. That is to say, they are inaccurate. Among other things, this blog will elaborate and clarify how the popular new translations are different. We will show, among other things, that it is not possible to deny the fact they are different, although this fact has often been casually glossed over by marketers of these newer versions. The specific information regarding this is covered in extensive detail here. I also have a page that directly highlights some of the most significant ways in which the modern translations are false witnesses. But, we keep in mind through all of this, that the Bible of the Authorized Version (KJV) is a faithful witness. This faithful witness represents the unchanging truth of God’s word, preserved, unchanged, even from the very foundation of the received, inspired word of God.

The truths presented are 1) self-evident, and 2) discoverable, so that there is no reason they cannot be found out.
The truth can be known!
Premises for this come from passages such as: John 8:471He that is of God heareth God’s words:
— John 8:47a
and Hebrews 11:6.2But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
— Hebrews 11:6

And also, 1 Corinthians 1:183For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
— 1 Corinthians 1:18
and John 18:37.4To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.
— John 18:37

Likewise, 1 John 5:95If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son.
— 1 John 5:9
and Luke 11:9.6And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.” — Luke 11:9
And, John 17:177Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.” — John 17:17, and Romans 1:20.8For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:” — Romans 1:20
